Statement of Purpose

Introduction

Our service consists of dedicated and professional practitioners and staff.  We strive to be acknowledged by our service users, suppliers and regulators as the leader in our sector.  This is achieved by ensuring that we recruit and train highly professional staff whose ambitions are to exceed service user expectations.  We have combined the experience of the team to give us the ability to provide the most up to date and effective risk assessment and first aid services.  UK Mental Health Transport provides solutions for transporting service users with mental health disorders.  We are committed to providing outstanding care.  This policy works in accordance with Mental Health Act 1983 Department of Health document and includes all changes included in the Mental Health Act 2007.  Our aim is to deliver a high standard of care and performance in cooperation with all our customers.  We support the recovery of mental health patients within the private sector and NHS trusts.  All our staff work in accordance with the policy and procedures of the service we are working for.  People are protected from abuse and harm and treated with dignity and respect.  UKMHT will transport service users detained under the Mental Health Act from the following situations:

• Transportation of service users to and from court.
• Transferring service users between hospitals.
• Recalls to hospital under a CTO (community treatment order).
• Returning patients who are absent without leave.
• Collections from home

Our Objectives:

1. To support our staff growth and development enabling them to exceed service users and client expectations.
2. To maintain the highest professional and ethical standards.
3. To respond to the needs of our patients, and staff.
4. To encourage innovation, ambition, enterprise and continuous improvement.

The Manager is responsible for:

• Providing leadership and management to ensure a robust operation and high quality service, whilst
safeguarding service users.
• Creating an open, positive and inclusive approach for staff and service users.
• Ensuring service delivery meets the assessed needs of each service user.
• Ensuring effective quality assurance and monitoring system is installed and adhered to.
• Maintaining accurate and suitable record keeping as well as financial procedures to safeguard the
organisation and service users.
• Ensuring appropriate training, supervision and appraisal of staff is carried out on a timely basis.
• Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety Act 1974.

Management & Staff responsibilities:

To ensure that all care is delivered in accordance with the requirements of our service users.

Compliance and Background Checks:

UK Mental Health Transport conducts extensive background and compliance checks (in accordance with DBS check Guidance published March 2013 and updated January 2017) on all the staff members who are in direct contact with members of public; All information is held on record and no candidate is able to work without having the required compliance in place.

It replaces the 1995 EU Data Protection Directive (European Directive 95/46/EC), strengthening the rights that EU individuals have over their data, and creating a uniform data protection law across Europe.
